Family friendly
Discover beautiful parkland on a trail that takes you around the serpentine lake at Clumber Park. Or visit Vicar Water Country Park for easy waymarked trails. There’s a handy café and visitor centre there too.
Long distance
The National Cycle Network route 66 forms part of the 154-mile Derby to York cycle route. For a picturesque ride with views of pretty villages try ‘Almost No Hills’, a 25-mile flat circular route.
Day trip classics
For leisurely forest and waterside cycling take Kings Clipstone Route 2 where you may spot a kingfisher or two. For a longer trip, try the Ancient Sherwood route through Clumber Park. Picnic perfection.
Get stuck into cycling at Sherwood Pines
Just a short walk through the forest from your cabin is Sherwood Pines – one of the best places to go cycling in the UK.
Sherwood Pines is perhaps the Midland’s most well-known forest. With activity trails, play areas, bike hire, wild running and mountain biking trails, it’s the ultimate destination for adventurers of all ages.
Head to the Bike Park to build your mountain biking skills on dirt jumps surrounded by woodland. Or if you’re looking for quieter spot to practice, try the Skills Loop (a safe, easy and traffic free place to get started) before moving on to the Family Cycle Route.
There’s also the Blue Adventure Cycle Route through natural terrain and the famous Kitchener Trail – a fast, challenging route through the forest and one of Sherwood Pine’s most popular.
