An attractive 17th century coaching inn with open fires, cask ales and great selection of malt whiskies. Meals are served in the lounge, bar and garden room and the menu is full of well-executed pub favourites. A great shout for a couples lunch or dinner after visiting the nearby Ryedale Folk Museum.

The Lion Inn is situated on the highest point of the North York Moors National Park, where the views over the Rosedale and Farndale valleys are breath-taking. The walks nearby are excellent and the inn makes a great focal point for a break and something to eat and drink. This Georgian coaching house dating back to 1720s is situated on a crossroads in the centre of the picturesque village of Thornton Dale. A year-round venue, with a roaring log fire for in the winter and a courtyard garden for the summer, it's a family-friendly, dog-friendly North York Moors pub. Book a table for 'Thank fish it's Friday' or enjoy the daily Steak Special. The New Inn is situated near Go Ape so it's great for a meal after your adventurous day out.
